Owl Creek Elementary School was alive with creativity and curiosity as students, families, local businesses, and community organizations gathered for the school’s second annual STEAM Night on November 13, 2025. The event, which highlights Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math through hands-on experiences, drew more than 300 attendees and transformed the school gym into an interactive learning space.
Ozarks Electric Cooperative was proud to take part this year, joining a diverse group of exhibitors who shared engaging demonstrations designed to spark interest in STEAM-related fields. Our team brought two interactive displays that helped students explore how electricity reaches their homes and how much energy common household appliances consume. Students had the opportunity to trace the electric system from generation to outlet and compare the energy use of items like space heaters, phone chargers, and LED bulbs, often with surprising results. The activities encouraged students to think critically about how energy is delivered and how small choices can impact overall consumption.
Alongside Ozarks Electric, representatives from the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, the University of Arkansas Engineering and Physics departments, Beaver Water District, the Amazeum, and several other organizations set up booths featuring demonstrations, experiments, and creative challenges. Students built simple circuits, examined live plants, explored water treatment concepts, tested physics principles, and engaged in hands-on problem-solving.
The event offered families a chance to learn together in a collaborative and upbeat environment, while giving students a glimpse into the real-world applications of STEAM subjects. Ozarks Electric is honored to support events like STEAM Night that encourage young learners to explore new ideas, ask questions, and discover opportunities in science and technology.
