Ozarks Electric Cooperative is proud to announce Aaden Istre as the recipient of its 2026 High Voltage Lineman Scholarship.
A graduate of Prairie Grove High School, Istre will attend Arkansas State University-Newport this fall to pursue his Technical Certificate in High Voltage Lineman Technology, a 10-month program designed to prepare students for careers in the electric utility industry.
The Ozarks Electric High Voltage Lineman Scholarship is valued at more than $10,000 and covers tuition, required materials and essential tools needed to complete the program, helping remove financial barriers for students interested in pursuing a career in linework.
Offered through Arkansas State University-Newport, the High Voltage Lineman Technology program provides students with hands-on training in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical power systems. The program also includes instruction in electrical theory, power distribution, safety protocols, pole climbing, equipment operation and other specialized skills critical to the profession. Graduates leave prepared for careers with electric cooperatives, utility providers and contractors across the country.
Lineworkers play a vital role in keeping communities powered, often working in difficult conditions to restore service after storms, maintain infrastructure and respond to emergencies. Through this scholarship, Ozarks Electric aims to invest in the next generation of skilled lineworkers while supporting students with a passion for serving their communities.
As the electric industry continues to evolve, the need for highly trained utility professionals remains strong. Scholarships like this not only create career opportunities for students, but also help strengthen the future workforce that powers homes, businesses and essential services.
