With extremely hot and humid summer conditions persisting in Northwest Arkansas and Northeast Oklahoma, taking some simple steps can help reduce your energy usage and bill.

  1. Set your thermostat to the warmest temperature you find comfortable.

  2. Make sure your HVAC filters are clean, and replace them regularly.

  3. Close your shades, blinds or curtains during the day.

  4. Use ceiling or floor fans to improve your comfort. Turn them off in unoccupied rooms.

  5. Use kitchen and bathroom vent fans to reduce humidity.

  6. Avoid using the oven, dishwasher or clothes dryer during the hottest parts of the day. Consider cooking on the stovetop, an outdoor grill, or a crockpot.
