Electric Cooperative Youth Tour

Each year, Ozarks Electric Cooperative sends four high school juniors on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. called Youth Tour. Youth Tour is coordinated by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and sponsored by electric cooperatives across the nation. Students will join more than 1,500 other young leaders in D.C. to learn about our nation's government, our nation's history and their place in our nation's future. Winners are selected through an essay and interview process.

Students may contact their high school guidance counselors for information about Youth Tour. The application requires that each student write an essay on a topic provided by Ozarks Electric and provide at least one letter of recommendation. All applications and letters of recommendation must be submitted by the deadline to be eligible. Applicants should be successful in academics, engaged in extra-curricular activities and/or community service and have demonstrated leadership potential.

After the essays are judged, finalists will be selected to be interviewed. Winners from Arkansas and Oklahoma are selected to attend the trip that takes place in June each summer.

Applications for the June 2024 Youth Tour will be available on December 1.
