Ozarks Electric Cooperative Passes Five Years Without Lost Workday Accident

Fayetteville, Ark. – Ozarks Electric Cooperative announced that last week it passed a major milestone in employee safety, reaching five years without a lost workday accident. The significant achievement was reached last week, at midnight on Thursday, March 3.

The milestone equates to more than 1.8 million working hours for a company that logs more than one million miles on the road each year. The electric utility industry is also ranked in the top ten among the most hazardous occupations in the country.

“In an industry that requires a strong dedication to safety, we are extremely proud to reach this incredible milestone,” said Mitchell Johnson, president/CEO of Ozarks Electric. “This momentous occasion is indicative of the culture of safety our employees create and foster on a daily basis.

“It’s that kind of dedication and focus that allows all of us to return home to our families, safe and sound, each and every night. Our commitment to world-class safety performance is beneficial to our entire cooperative, and I hope our membership will join me in congratulating our employees on this great accomplishment.”

Ozarks Electric, incorporated in 1938, is a member-owned electric cooperative, serving more than 70,000 meters across nine counties in Northwest Arkansas and Northeast Oklahoma. For more information about Ozarks Electric, visit the cooperative’s website at www.ozarksecc.com.
