Statement from our President/CEO

President/CEO, Ozarks Electric

While all of us are doing everything we can to protect ourselves and our families during the COVID-19 pandemic, I want to let you know that Ozarks Electric and OzarksGo are here for you. Since 1938, it has been Ozarks Electric’s mission to provide reliable power to our members, and OzarksGo shares a similar mission to connect its customers with reliable high-speed internet, TV and telephone service. We know these services are vital for our members and customers, especially now.

Because the services we provide are so essential, we continually prepare for crisis scenarios, from severe storms to cyberattacks to pandemics and more. We conduct annual crisis preparedness exercises so we can think through how to handle various disruptions before they arise.

A previous exercise was a simulation of a pandemic not unlike the one we are currently facing, so we have been able to activate plans that were already developed. In order to keep our members, customers and employees safe, we have closed our lobbies, asked employees who can to work from home, and instituted measures such as employee education, enhanced cleaning of all office areas and desks, increased handwashing and expanded paid-time off policies for employees who may fall ill.

At the same time, we are committed to maintaining our high level of service and being available to our members and customers. Our crews continue to maintain and improve our power and fiber-optic systems, repair outages and install new services. You can still reach us through our toll-free numbers, our websites and our social media, and you can manage your account and pay your bill through MyOzarks.

We also recognize that your lives have changed because of the outbreak, and we are here to support you. Ozarks Electric and OzarksGo have temporarily suspended disconnects for non-payment, and we increased the speed of OzarksGo’s Basic internet package from 100 Mbps to 200 Mbps. We are also offering several free previews of OzarksGo TV channels to help our customers stay informed and entertained.

As a member-owned cooperative, our commitment is to our members, and that continues as usual. For example, we are mailing capital credit checks this week, which return surplus revenue to our members.

I hope that you and your family are well. Please do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-521-6144 if you have any questions about our response to this situation.

Sincerely,

Mitchell Johnson
